I
SPY CUPCAKES GALLERY EXHIBIT 2008 Report
Posted
1/16/08
This is how I like to start the new year! With
a special event and a new illustration drawn
specifically for it.
Digital Three (www.digitalthree.com)
is a design firm in Sarasota run by artist Kyle
Cross, whom we met at last months Tri-County
Comic Con. He invited me to participate in the
exhibit entitled "I Spy Cupcakes"
in which every art piece was required to include
one or more cupcakes. Of course, I had to do
something dirty, which was totally fine with
Kyle, and I have to say was met with incredible
response during the opening night reception.
It's been years since I've been to an opening
reception with my art in the exhibit. It was
nice, especially since the "underground"
gallery dress code was casual. Patrons were
drinking and laughing and having a good time,
with proceeds going to the Salvation Army. We
met lots of people and got great feedback.
I have to say I've never seen so many people
blush, giggle, and stare mouth agape, at my
artwork. Gay, straight, men, women, everyone
stopped and pointed when they got to mine. Some
commented, some took photos, some even traced
the outline of the *ahem* naughty parts, with
their fingers. It was fantastic!
Fellow artist Erik Jones from Tri-County Comic
Con was at the reception as well. He had done
the only other artwork featuring nudity. Of
course, his was much more tasteful than mine,
and it was a female subject. But his was an
equally popular piece. Never let it be said
that people don't like porn -- I mean art. *wink*
I'll be participating in future Digital Three
exhibits. And for the next one planned, I'm
going to be following the not-yet-announed (not
to the public anyway!) theme with a hot illustration
of a very sexy and seductive female actress.
See you soon!
