MEGACON
2008 Show Report
Posted
4/14/08
MegaCon is always a blast, and this year was
no exception. The show was held in the newest
hall of the Orange County Convention Center,
and while the parking was a little inconvenient,
the loading bays were soooooo easy to use. That
put us in a great mood for the show, even with
the pouring rain outside.
This year was significant for us as we debuted
not only new illustrations but new merchandise.
The matted prints were a success and our new
mousepads went like hot cakes! We can now offer
virtually any illustration on the site as a
mousepad. We may roll out a couple more test-market
items at future shows this year.
On a celebrity sighting front, those of you
who watch Stan Lee's Who Wants To Be A Superhero
know season two contestant "Parthenon".
Well as it turns out, Parthenon is a fan of
my art and has some prints from a couple years
ago. He stopped by the booth to say hello and
look through the new portfolios. He's a hottie
hot hot!!
We were back in the Black Section #1, our home
from the first show. And I tried to take the
sign at the end of the show, but the labor union
crew were too efficient this year and took it
down before I could. Maybe next year.
Some new art projects came out of this show,
including some commissions and a chance to do
a pin-up for an independent comic book. Also,
you guys continue to provide great ideas for
new illustrations, and rest assured, I'll be
taking your suggestions to heart as I plan future
drawings.
Thanks again for all the support! See you at
the next show!
