FLORIDA SUPERCON 2006 Show Report
Posted 11/20/06

The Florida Supercon show was held in the first weekend of November down at Hollywood Beach's Ocean Walk mall. The show ended up bigger than expected due to the mall and the adjoining hotel providing larger-than-ordered tables for everyone, so the overflow of vendors, including us, were displaced further out into the mall. This was a good thing and a bad thing.

Low ceilings and low lighting, but Johan still stood proud and visible in the darkness!

It was a good thing because it gave all of us more space at the same cost, and made browsing a bit easier for attendees. Unfortunately, it was a bad thing because the area of the mall where we ended up was poorly lit, had low ceilings, and seemed to be structurally unstable. The low ceilings made us redesign our booth layout, and the low lighting was a significant problem, but we managed. Worse, because the show was now so widespread, attendees got lost and ended up missing our section altogether. At least we were next to our friends, Philip and Frances McCall of Mythix Studios.

Our booth neighbors, Dark Fantasy Author Philip McCall II and his wife Frances.

We were towards what would be considered the back of the show, on the second floor of the mall, where lots of people came in the backdoors, snuck up the nearby stairs and began shopping without paying admission, which was good for us because they had extra money to spend.

A bunch of attendees recognized us from previous shows. With just under 2,000 attendees over the two day event, sales and feedback were good.

A fair number of people dressed up as their favorite characters. There was a costume parade that marched through the entire show before the costume contest judging.

Cheers to all the fans that supported us at the show. See you again soon!
